PULWAMA: General Observer for Rajpora, Pulwama Assembly Segments Sajad Zaman Hazarika and General Observer for Pampore and Tral Assembly Segments of of Anantnag Parliamentary Constituency (PC), Vinit Nandawar along with District Election Officer (DEO), Pulwama Dr Syed Abid Rashid Shah today reviewed election preparedness and security arrangements for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections in the district.
The meeting was attended by Nodal Officers and other officers of different departments. Senior Civil and police officers including Superintendent of Police (SP) Awantipora, Additional SP Pulwama, Additional Deputy Commissioners (ADC) Pulwama, Tral, Awantipora, Assistant Returning Officers (ARO), Nodal Officers, Deputy DEO, Sectoral Magistrates, Zonal Magistrates and other concerned attended the meeting.
The General Observers reviewed the facilities being provided at the polling stations including water, electricity, toilet, cleanliness, facilities for specially-abled voters and transport facilities for dispatching the poll staff to different locations.
The DEO Pulwama informed the Observers about the basic arrangements being put in place in the district. SP Pulwama /Awantipora also briefed about the security related measures to ensure the conduct of elections in free and fair manner.
The Observers were informed about measures taken by District Administration for effective implementation of Model Code of Conduct, Systematic Voters’ Education and Electoral Participation Program activities, Electronic Voting Machines/ Voter Verifiable Paper Audit Trail (VVPAT) Awareness, provision of Assured Minimum Facilities at polling stations, Special Electoral Camps for Persons with Disabilities, First Level Checks and randomization status, Communication Plan, Transport Plan, Human Resource Management, Web Casting, 1950, c-Vigil, Election expenditure monitoring etc in the district.
The Observers expressed their satisfaction over the preparations and applauded the District election management team for their pro-actively carrying out standard arrangements. They also supervised the training session of Sectoral and Zonal magistrates in which master level trainers comprehensively demonstrated the use of VVPAT and EVM.
Later on, Observers also inspected various model polling stations in Pulwama and reviewed the assured minimum facilities including availability of water, electricity, furniture, toilet facility and accommodation for polling staff besides facilities for specially-abled voters.
