Srinagar: J&K Civil Secretariat Employees Union held an emergency meeting on Tuesday at the Civil Secretariat, Jammu to discuss the present scenario that has arisen out of the recent instruction/directions issued by J&K High Court regarding conduct of elections of the secretariat union.
The meeting was attended by the Union’s core group members, office bearers, well-wishers and members of the different cadres of civil secretariat, an official statement issued to GNS said.
During the meeting, it was informed that High Court has stayed the election process for various reasons and has directed the government to halt the process for the time being.
After detailed deliberation and discussion, it was unanimously resolved that the present union has the mandate and will continue/proceed further unless and until a new team is elected by the employees of the Civil Secretariat, the statement said.
The union was asked to vigorously pursue and take further course of action on the issues before the government which include: allocation of slots to be notified and promotion from feeding services thereof; revocation of SRO- 202 of 2005; pending cadre review and clarity about the future roadmap for the E and S cadre (PD&MD); pending concurrency regarding cadre review report of legal services by the finance department; promotion of class 4th orderly (s) of the civil secretariat as junior assistants; and detachment of attached stop in civil secretariat.
The meeting supported the demand for change of nomenclature of the Union extending its term/tenure and inclusion of other promoted officers with the ambit of new restructured union to avoid further resentment/confrontation among the employees.
It was also observed that the government is not serious towards the genuine demands of the employees of the Civil Secretariat, the meeting observed.
The Union requested all the employees of the Civil Secretariat to “stay united and support the cause for the overall welfare of the employees and do not fall prey to false propaganda of a few miscreants and self-styled leaders who are hell bent to sabotage the process”.
The future programme and strategy shall be conveyed very soon, the J&K Civil Secretariat Employees Union said.
