Decision to hold only Parliamentary elections in J&K confirms sinister designs of GoI. Not letting people elect a government is antithetical to the very idea of democracy. Also a tactic of buying time to disempower people by pushing an agenda that suits their ulterior motives.

With the amount of international attention elections in J&K attract I never thought PM Modi would be willing to confess his failure on a global stage but we all make mistakes & that was mine.

The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Sunday evening announced the Lok Sabha Elections 2019 dates. The poll body began the press conference at 5 PM. The Model Code of Conduct came into effect as soon as the schedule and dates were announced. The term of the 16th Lok Sabha ends on June 3. Stay tuned to India.com for Live Updates.
The Election Commission, since few days, has been facing flak of various political parties over the delay in the announcement of the general elections schedule. The parties accused the poll body of working in tandem with the Centre- by allowing Narendra Modi government an extended window to announce sops.
Over the past few months, Election Commission officials have been touring the country, assessing the poll preparedness and holding meetings to ensure a stress-free polling this Lok Sabha election season. On March 7, the poll panel said that the Lok Sabha Elections 2019 schedule is likely to be announced ‘any day’.
