Srinagar: Amid rains and restrictions thousands of people attended the funeral prayers of Ishfaq Majeed Mir at his native village Brath Majeed was killed in a 55-hour long gunfight with government forces in Handwara.

Ishfaq was among the two militants killed in one of the longest gunfights between militants and government forcesΒ  at Babagund area of Handwara in Kupwara district. Five forces personnel were also killed in the fierce 55 hour long gunfight.

Jammu and Kashmir Police Monday morning handed over the body of Ishfaq Majeed alias Sajad of Brat village of northern Kahsmir’s Sopore to his family.

Reports reaching QNS 24*7 said that thousands of people thronged the residence of the slain militant and in a massive processions took Ishfaq to lay him to rest.

People raised Pro-Freedom, Pro-Islam and Pro-Pakistan slogans in the procession.

Meanwhile authorities have also deployed huge number of forces to curb any protests. Mobile internet facilities have also been suspended in the area.
