2 Pak army men, 3 civilians killed in ‘unprovoked Indian shelling’ along LoC: Pakistan

Srinagar: At least three civilians and two Pakistani soldiers were killed and just as many injured in “unprovoked and indiscriminate” firing by Indian forces along the Line of Control (LoC) on Saturday, Dawn reported.

The shelling and firing by Indian troops targetted locations in Hotspring, Tatta Pani and Jandrot sectors of the LoC and the civilian population residing in the area.

“In response, the Pakistan Army targeted the Indian posts and gave a befitting response. The injured were shifted to a hospital in Kotli,” it said.

“Two Pakistan Army soliders were killed at Nakiyal Sector in exchange of fire while targeting Indian posts undertaking firing on civilian population,” the ISPR statement read. “They were identified as Havaldar Abdur Rub and Naik Khuram.”

“Reports of casualties of Indian troops and damage to post due to effective response by Pakistan Army,” it concluded.

Earlier, ISPR had reported Indian firing across the LoC, as a result of which two citizens were two while two others, including a woman, were injured. Separately, Dawn reported that a 19-year-old youth, identified as Abdul Ghaffar, was injured in Darra Sher Khan when he was shot at by an Indian sniper from across the LoC.

The Pakistan military’s media wing ISPR said that the armed forces, including Pakistan Airforce (PAF) and Pakistan Navy remain on alert.
