Sense of unease and panic in Kashmir: Mehbooba

Srinagar: People’s Democratic Party President and former Chief Minister, Mehbooba Mufti on Sunday said that there is a sense of “unease and panic” in Kashmir.

“There is a sense of unease and panic in Kashmir. Nobody has a clue about what is to come but an ominous feeling of impending doom hangs in the air. In such a surcharged atmosphere, public anger has been diverted towards Kashmiris,” Mehbooba tweeted.

Tensions remain high in ValleyΒ after a crackdown on Jamaat-e-Islami and induction of additional forces in Kashmir with rumours about tampering of Article 35A.

Around 150 Jamaat-e-Islami Β cadres including its chief, Abdul Hamid Fayaz, were detained in the last two days in the Kashmir Valley in a mass crackdown.Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front (JKLF) Chief Muhammad Yasin Malik was also taken into preventive custody on Friday.
