Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front chief Yasin Malik was detained Friday night amid indications of a wider crackdown on separatists in Jammu and Kashmir, officials said.
Dozens of top Jamaat-e-Islami leaders were also detained during over-night raids through out the valley.
Government of India has also ordered deployment of 100 companies of paramilitary forces in J&K.
Speculations and rumors of tinkering of Article 35A are doing rounds throughout the valley amid mounting tensions between the two neighboring countries, India and Pakistan.
The action comes eight days after Fidayeen attack on a CRPF convoy in Pulwama district in which 40 CRPF personnel were killed.
