Srinagar: Tehreek-e-Hurriyat Chairman, Mohammad Ashraf Sehrai on Sunday hailed the statement of Kamal Hassan wherein he had reportedly said that India should hold the plebiscite in Kashmir.
The Chairman while expressing his gratitude to Kamal Hassan for the support to the people of Kashmir in their “legitimate struggle” hoped that the sane voices would play a “positive and effective role to press India for for the peaceful settlement of Kashmir.
“Because of the repressive policies of the Indian government our fourth generations have been pushed to the wall. The insensitivity of the Indian authorities is the sole reason for the unabated bloodshed and the demand for legitimate right to self-determination is the only crime of the Kashmiri people,” Sehrai said.
He urged the Government of India to give up its “obduracy”, and accept the reality that it has to address the Kashmir dispute in accordance with the wishes of its people. Sehrai said the Kashmir issue cannot be resolved through “brute force” nor people of Kashmir can be silenced with “military might” , adding that the issue can only be solve to address the dispute in its historical perspective.
The chairman said that instead of taking measures to resolve long pending issue in its historical perspective, New Delhi wants to “thrust it’s choice through barrel of gun”.
“This arrogance and persistent denial can’t hold water for long and Delhi has to come to terms with the writing on the wall.He said a delay in resolution of the long-running dispute has kept the people of whole sub-continent hostage and it is proving to be a big hurdle to peace and prosperity in the whole subcontinent,” he said.
Meanwhile, Sehrai paid tributes to Kashmiri youth who were killed in Pinglan Pulwama in a gunfight with government forces and said that the civilian killed during a cordon and search operation is not justified at all.
Sehrai also expressed his grief and sorrow over the demise of father of incarcerated Hurriyat leader Farooq Ahmed Dar and Mother of JKLF Vice-President Haroon Saleem, who breathed her last on Sunday.
He extended his sympathy and solidarity with the bereaved families and prayed for the deceased souls. On the directions of Sehrai Tehreek-e-Hurriyat delegation comprising of Mhraj -u- Din Rabbani and Mukhtar Ahmed Sofi visited the residence of Farooq Ahmed Dar and offered condolence with the bereaved family.
