Srinagar: Army on Friday carried out a flag march in Jammu city following reports of arson and violence by mobs in the aftermath of Pulwama militant attack.
Authorities have already imposed curfew in the district. The flag march, sources said, was carried out by Army in Jammu’s Gujjar Nagar area.
Reports reaching QNS said that the mobs pelted stoned on police and reportedly torched vehicles in Gujjar Nagar area following which the authorities imposed curfew in the area. Large contingent of forces has been deployed in the area to control the situation.
The protests burned tires on the road and waving Indian flags the protestors raised anti-Pakistan slogans and demanded action against Pakistan for “sponsoring terrorism in the Valley.”
“Don’t play into the hands of anti- national elements. They want to disturb our societal harmony. Defeat their designs. Dont get get provoked. Maintain calm,” IGP Jammu appealed.
Protests turned violent in Jammu and Kashmir’s winter capital after a bandh call given by Vishwa Hindu Parishad J&K, Jammu Chamber of Commerce and Industry supported by Jammu Bar Association.
