Srinagar: One army personnel and a militant were killed while two other army personnel sustained injuries during the ongoing gunfight with militants in Ratnipora village of south Kahsmir’s Pulwama Tuesday morning.
The gunfight erupted after a joint team of army’s 50 RR, 10 Para, Jammu and Kashmir Police and other paramilitary forces laid siege to the area and started search operation after specific inputs about the presence of militants in the area, officials said, adding that the hiding militants opened fire on forces which was retaliated triggering the gunfight.
The slain militant has been identified as Hilal Ahmad slias Ukasha, a resident of Gandibagh Kakapora in Pulwama district. Hilal was affiliated with militant outfit Jaish-e-Muhammad.
According to the local sources two militants managed to flee amid heavy clashes between forces and the youth.
The slain army man have been identified as Sepoy Baljeet Singh and the injured as Naik Saneed of 10 Para and Hawaldar Chander Pal.
