Hilly areas suffered most during PDP-BJP misrule: Malik

REASI: National Conference senior leader and former minister Abdul Gani Malik on Monday lashed out at PDP and BJP for neglecting rural and far-flung areas during their nightmarish misrule of over three years, saying lack of development and dilapidated condition of roads and utility services have multiplied the problems of the people, a statement issued here said.
β€œAs a result of poor utility services, the people of the hilly areas especially Gulabgarh constituency have been braving the brunt of erratic power supply and scarcity of drinking water during the ongoing winter season”, Malik said while addressing National Conference workers at Mahore in Reasi district.
He said due to inaccessibility and disruption in road communication, the people of various areas are deprived of foodgrains. He called for ensuring quality rations and replenishing of the stocks in the far off areas. β€œThe people are craving for basic amenities and the administration should take care of their needs”, he added.
Malik blamed the previous government of abandoning various initiatives taken by the National Conference government and said the remote areas have been left in lurch in respect of development.
He also urged the administration for taking immediate steps towards restoration of infrastructure damaged due to snow in the wake of recent heavy snowfall.
Malik assured the people that their specific problems will be brought to the notice of concerned departments for early redressal.
