Baramulla: Jammu and Kashmir police on Saturday claimed to have busted a module of Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) responsible for grenade attacks in this north Kashmir district.
He said on January 25 evening, unknown militants hurled a hand grenade towards a CRPF camp at Sopore. However, the grenade missed the intended target and exploded outside the camp without causing any damage.
He said a case FIR No. 13/2019 under sections 307 RPC, 7/27 A. Act was registered in Police station Sopore and investigation taken up.
During the course of investigation, three individuals identified as Ghulam Qadir Rather, Owais Khalid Dar and Aijaz Ajamd Khan were detained by the police on the basis of suspicion. However, during their questioning they confessed their involvement in the attack. They further revealed that they were working with JeM and the outfit provided them two grenades to attack security forces.
He said they have been formally arrested in the case. Further investigation is going on and more arrests are expected, he said.
