Srinagar: Asserting that Kashmiris have paid a heavy price with their lives in the confrontation between India and Pakistan, Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) president Mehbooba Mufti hoped that the rest of the nation tries to understand the dilemma that torments every Kashmiri.
“In this confrontation between the two neighbours, Kashmiris have paid a heavy price with their lives. Hope the rest of the nation tries to understand the dilemma that torments every Kashmiri,” Ms Mehbooba, who is the former chief minister of J&K, wrote on micro-blogging site twitter.
Meanwhile, expressing happiness over militant-turned-soldier Lance Naik Nazir Ahmad Wani being posthumously awarded India’s highest peace time gallantry award, the Ashok Chakra, Ms Mehbooba said he saw both sides of the conflict.
“Heartwarming to see his family receive the Ashok Chakra.Lance Nazir Wani saw both sides of conflict. First as a militant and then as a soldier,” she twitted.
President Ram Nath Kovind presented the award to Wani’s wife and mother. On November 25, 2018, Lance Naik Wani was martyred in an encounter in which six militants were killed in Hirapur village near Batgund in Kashmir.
