Srinagar: Hurriyat Conference (M) has paid tributes to six armed youth Dr Shamsul Haq Mengnoo, Amir Ahmed Bhat, Shoiab Ahmed Shah, Syed Rubani, Sabzar Ahmad and Touseef Ahmad who were killed in two separate encounters at Chari Sharief Budgam and Heff Shirmal Shopian.
A Hurriyat (M) spokesperson in a statement issued to GNS said “it is extreme repression and use of brutal force” which is pushing young generation towards the wall and convinces them to pick up arms.
“Day in and day out, the youth are summoned to police stations where they are put to physical and mental torture. Many are arrested and detained under PSAs. Every day people especially youth become the target killing of forces anywhere in the valley and these methods of repression at a point become intolerable thus force the youth to opt for the armed struggle,” he said.
He said Kashmiri people have been fighting hard for their birthright since past several decades and the priceless sacrifices offered by the people including youth, women and elderly will never be forgotten. To protect these sacrifices, it is highly inevitable to show steadfastness and stand united, he said.
The spokesperson termed the silence adopted by the world community over Kashmir issue as unfortunate and said that the lingering Kashmir dispute since past seven decades is not the only threat to peace in the subcontinent but the entire south Asian region. Time demands that the world community impresses upon New Delhi for the resolution of this oldest dispute for everlasting peace in the region.
Meanwhile, the Hurriyat (M) spokesman strongly condemned the use of pellets on photojournalists in Heff-Shrimal that left several journalists injured. He said it is highly undemocratic that photojournalists who were carrying out their professional duties were showered with pellets.
He also condemned the CRPF action at Habba Kadal wherein a youth was seriously injured saying that the forces have gone berserk and are targeting innocent civilians.
