All roads leading to headquarters of 15 Corps closed to foil JRL march

Srinagar: All roads leading to headquarters of 15 Corps in Srinagar have been closed to foil Badami Bagh Challo called by Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) on Monday against the Pulwama killings on Saturday.
The traffic police has already announced traffic advisory banning any traffic movement on the main road — Pantha Chowk-Badami Bagh Sonawar-Dagate–.
The JRL has called by for a three day strike and Badami Bagh Chaloo today against the killing of seven civilians in security forces action in Pulwama on Saturday, when three Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) militants, including an Army deserter, and a soldier were killed. During the subsequent clashes seven civilians were killed in security force action.
Large number of security forces and state police personnel besides Army personnel have been deployed since last night to prevent any demonstrations and processions today.
The security forces had closed the main road leading to Badami Bagh at Dalgate, Radio Kashmir crossing and Gupkar with barbed wire. Security forces have also closed the bund near the headquarters of J&K Bank also leading to Badami Bagh. People at Sonawar, Iqbal colony and Indira Nagar and Shivpora in the Badami Bagh cantonment alleged they were not being allowed to move freely in their areas by the security forces deployed in strength. People alleged that even patients were also not being allowed to visit only G B Panth (children) hospital at Sonawar. A group of media persons were turned back and prevented from taking photographs by the Army personnel deployed there.
Traffic police has issued an advisory, banning any traffic movement in Badami Bagh cantonment areas in view of separatists β€˜Chinar Corps headquarters challo’ call on Monday.
A traffic police spokesperson said in view of security restrictions in Srinagar on Monday traffic will not be allowed to ply on Pantha Chowk-Sonawar-Dalgate Road stretch. He asked people who intend to travel to South Kashmir to take Bypass Road.
Similarly, he said people coming from South Kashmir shall adopt Bypass Road to reach City Centre. β€œPeople who have to travel from Nishat and adjacent areas to reach City Centre shall adopt Boulevard-Badyari Road,” he said adding no traffic shall be allowed to ply on Gupkar Road stretch from Grand Place Crossing. β€œCommuters are requested to use alternate routes to reach their destinations,” he said. Any inconvenience caused is highly regretted, he added.
