Woman arrested for allegedly luring youth into militancy though Facebook

The arrest of the woman comes less than a week after security forces detained a 28-year-old woman, Aysia Jan, carrying 20 grenades in the city outskirts.
Sources said that the woman, identified as Shazia, a resident of Sumbal in north Kashmir district of Bandipora, was arrested after intelligence agencies zeroed in on her Facebook profile, through which she used to allegedly β€˜luring youths for joining militant ranks and pick up weapons’.
They said during interrogation, she allegedly reveled that she had handed over arms and ammunition to two youth. β€œOne of the two youth has been arrested,” they added.
A video, which did rounds few months back on social media, including Facebook, alleged that she was a police informer. On the basis of a complaint filed by her, two youth were detained and later let off with a warning.
Sources said the woman used to seek favours from officials, promising them that she would provide information about militants. However, they alleged that she used to extract information from security forces and pass it on to militants.
On November 13, following specific information, security forces arrested Aysia Jan at Lawaypora, along with 20 grenades and a large cache of ammunition.
