Srinagar: Claiming that number of local youths joining militancy in the Kashmir valley has witnessed decline during the past two months, General officer commanding (GoC) 15 Corps, Lt Gen A K Bhatt on Saturday expressed hope that youth will follow right path.
The recruitment of local youth in militant outfits has been persistent during past couple of years. “However, we have seen a drop in the recruitment in past two months, he told reporters on the sideline of wreath-laying ceremony organized to pay tributes to Major Somnath who was martyred on this day in 1947 at Airport.
He said during the past two years youths had joined militancy in the valley. However, many of them returned to their homes after counseling to lead a normal life.
Now the trend has witnessed decline in new recruitments of local youths during the past two months.
