Srinagar: Life was on Thursday crippled due to general strike against the arrest of a shopkeeper under Public Safety Act (PSA) in Tral in south Kashmir district of Pulwama.
Shops and business establishments remained closed and traffic was off the road in Tral and adjoining areas on a strike called by traders. However, some private vehicles were also seen plying.
Work in government offices and banks was also affected. Educational institutions also were affected as students stayed away in response to strike call.
A shopkeeper Hilal Ahmad Dhobi, resident of Hamdania Bazar, Tral was recently arrested and later booked under PSA. He alongwith another former militant was later shifted to Jammu.
