DGP sanctions over 9.69 lakh rupees as scholarship for wards of Police personnel

SRINAGAR: Director General of Police Dilbag Singh today granted scholarships of Rs. 9.69 lac in favour of 161 wards of serving police personnel and police martyrs. Welfare relief was also sanctioned for sixteen retired police personnel by the DGP.
109 wards of serving police personnel were granted scholarship for securing eighty per cent and above marks in class 10th during the academic session 2017-2018 and 52 wards of police martyrs studying in different classes were granted scholarships.
DGP also sanctioned welfare relief of rupees one lac sixty thousand in favour of sixteen retired police personnel who were found in dire need of financial assistance. Besides financial assistance of rupees fifteen thousand was sanctioned for a police man whose residential house was damaged.
J&K Police has established a Welfare Fund to provide financial loans and assistance as a succor to the police personnel in need. Scholarships under different schemes are provided to the meritorious wards of serving personnel to encourage them in their studies and the wards of martyrs who laid their lives in the line of duty.
