Train service suspended in Kashmir

Srinagar: Train service has been suspended for security reasons on Thursday in the Kashmir valley, where security forces have launched Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) at three places in Srinagar, Badgam and Anantnag.

”We have suspended all train runs in the Kashmir valley after a fresh advisory was received this morning from authorities,” a senior railway official told UNI.

He said railway authorities are acting on the advice of local administration, including police as security and safety of passengers besides railway officials and property was important.

Therefore, he said, no train will run on Badgam-Srinagar-Anantnag-Qazigund in south Kashmir to Banihal in Jammu region.

Similarly, all train runs on Srinagar-Badgam to Baramulla in north Kashmir have been suspended today, he added.

Hundreds of passengers, who had arrived at different railway stations this morning, were disappointed after being informed that all train runs have been suspended.
