Srinagar: Troops on Sunday foiled an infiltration bid from Pakistan administrated Kashmir (PaK) when they killed a heavily armed militant at Kasturi Naar in north Kashmir district of Baramulla.
Defence Ministry spokesperson Colonel Rajesh Kalia told UNI that troops guarding the Line of Control (LoC) noticed a group of militants sneaking into this side at Kasturi Naar in Baramulla on Sunday.
When challenged and asked to surrender, militants opened fire, he said, adding troops also retaliated and in the ensuing encounter a militant was killed.
The operation was still going on when the reports last came in, he added.
Three militants were killed on Saturday when troops foiled a major infiltration bid from across the border in Tangdhar sector in frontier Kashmir district of Kupwara, where an Army soldier was killed in landmine blast at Gulab Post along the LoC.
