Srinagar: Scores of Joint Resistance Leadership activists led by Jammu and Kashmir Liberation Front JKLF chairperson Muhammad Yasin Malik on Wednesday took out a protest rally demanding release of political prisoners.
Chanting pro-freedom slogans, activists assembled outside the JKLF office at Abi Guzar in Srinagar and demanded immediate release of political prisoners.
While addressing the gathering Malik said that the political prisoners are lodged in various jails even after completing their sentences.
Malik urged the United Nation Human Rights Commission UNHRC and other human rights organisations to use their influence to press the Indian government for releasing of all political prisoners.
Meanwhile, Malik along with other activists were detained as they tried to march towards Lal Chowk.
