Two panchayat ghars set on fire in Kupwara after 72% polling

Srinagar: Two panchayat ghars were set on fire by miscreants on Saturday in the frontier district of Kupwara in north Kashmir, where 72 polling was recorded yesterday.
Official sources said that a panchayat ghar was set on fire by miscreants at village Laderan in north Kashmir district of Kupwara last night. However, before the fire tenders rushed from different areas could douse the flames, the building suffered extensive damage.
Police has registered a case and started investigation.
A panchayat ghar was also gutted in mysterious fire at village Nutnussa in Kupwara on Saturday evening. The building was damaged in the fire, they said adding police has registered a case and initiated proceedings.
About 72 per cent polling was recorded in panchayat polls in Kupwara yesterday when first of the nine phase elections were held in the state.
