Srinagar: The traffic was suspended on 434-km-long Srinagar-Leh national highway due to slippery road conditions, following fresh snowfall on Thursday.
“We have suspended traffic movement on the Srinagar-Leh national highway due to slippery road conditions following fresh snowfall at different places, including Zojila pass and Meenmarg,” a traffic police official told UNI.
The road is slippery so no vehicle was allowed from either side of Zojila, he said, adding traffic was suspended as a precautionary measure to avoid any accident.
“We are monitoring the road condition,” he said.
He said traffic will be resumed only after receiving green signal from the officials posted at different places on the highway.
