Khanyar missing boy’s family stages protest
Srinagar: Emotional scenes were witnessed at Srinagar’s Press Enclave after the family and relatives of a missing Khanyar boy who was studying at Sharda University on Thursday assembled here to seek the whereabouts of their beloved.

Scores of family members and relatives of Ahtisham Ahmad of Khanyar assembled at Srinagar’s Pass Enclave, carrying the photograph of their beloved who went missing on October 28, 2018.
Ahtisham’s mother, visibly ailing was seen sitting silent on a chair in the premises of Press Enclave. The family and relatives of Ahtisham were seen disturbed with tears in their eyes.
Bilal Ahmad, father of missing student amid tears in his eyes said that his son was on outing on Sunday (October 28). “I called him at around 04:29 on Sunday and asked him whether he reached campus back or not. He was on the way according to him and said that he will be at campus soon as he was in Metro,” Bilal divulged.
He informed that he asked Ahtisham which place he had gone for tour today, but he didn’t reveal, saying ‘I will send you the photographs once I reach’.
However, Bilal said that he called Ahtisham again at around 06:30 but his phone was switched off. “Since then, his phone is switched off,” he said, adding that in the mid of the night, “I visited Khanyar Police Station and filed a missing report there. We have also filed a missing report at Greater Noida in this regard.”
In the mealtime, the family said that Ahtisham has also called his cousin brother, also a student at Sharda University during which he has informed him that “he was boarding a metro and that he will reach the campus soon.”
“He didn’t reach the campus back. We want the authorities to trace him at an earliest. We seek the whereabouts of our beloved,” the family said.
Meanwhile, the family termed the reports about Ahtisham’s appearance in Kashmir, saying that their beloved was in New Deli when they called hi the last time and “we believe that he has been kidnapped by somebody, which should be investigated thoroughly”.
Earlier, Ahtisham was ‘assaulted’ during clashes between two groups of students at Sharda University on October 4, 2018, when he was mistaken as Afghan national.
