Srinagar: Upping the ante at the Governor over his comment that PDP President Mehbooba Mufti and the NC Vice President agree privately that civilians should not pelt stones but don’t say so publicly, Omar Abdullah said he is curious how Satya Pal Malik knows what he thinks privately.
The NC Vice President asked ‘if his calls were being monitored, office and residence bugged’.
“How does Gov Malik know what I think about anything? Is he quoting a conversation I’ve had with him privately? Are my calls being monitored? Is my office/residence bugged? He owes me, if not @MehboobaMufti Sahiba an explanation,” Mr Abdullah, who is also a former chief minister of the state, wrote on micro-blogging site.
The NC Vice President said let me say this publicly so that the Governor is under no confusion – ‘civilians should not throw stones and should not rush to encounter sites’. “I’m not saying this publicly for the first time and it won’t be the last time I’m saying this,” he added.
However, he said at the same time ‘we can’t treat stone throwers as terrorists and randomly keep shooting them but that’s a conversation for another day’.
“Right now I’m curious to know how Governor Malik knows what I think privately,” he added.
Mr Abdullah was responding to the comment the Governor made during an interview with a national news paper. “Omar Abdullah and Mehbooba Mufti agree privately that civilians should not pelt stones or rush to encounter sites but don’t say so publicly,” Mr Malik had said in the interview.
