Anantnag: To foil separatists “Kulgam Challo” on Wednesday against killing of seven civilians in a blast on Sunday, authorities closed all roads leading to main town besides imposed restrictions under Section 144 CrPC to prevent any demonstration.
The authorities have already ordered closure of all educational institutions and suspension of mobile internet service in majority south Kashmir areas. The train service also remained suspended since Sunday.
The Joint Resistance Leadership (JRL) has called for “Kulgam Challo” today to express solidarity with the people of Kulgam and family members of seven person who lost their lives in the blast, which took place after an encounter at Laroo in which three Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) militants were killed on Sunday.
All roads leading main town have been closed with barbed wire at several places and nobody was being allowed to enter the area. Besides Naka checks have also been established on different roads, connecting other districts with Kulgam.
A report from Kulgam said hundreds of security forces and state police personnel have been deployed in the main town and adjoining areas to strictly implement restrictions. People in the town alleged that they were not being allowed to move out of their houses by the security forces deployed since early this morning.
Additional security forces have also been deployed on both sides of the Srinagar-Jammu national highway, passing through south Kashmir, including Kulgam.
Security forces have also been deployed in strength in Anantnag, Shopian and Pulwama to prevent any demonstration.
