Police pays tribute to SOG man killed in Srinagar encounter

Srinagar: Jammu and Kashmir Police paid a floral tribute to a man of Special Operations Group (SOG) of state police, who was killed in an encounter with militants in the summer capital, Srinagar on Wednesday.
A police spokesperson said a wreath laying ceremony was held at District Police Lines (DPL) Srinagar to pay homage to the martyr, identified as Kamal Kishor, who was killed while fighting valiantly against militants at Syed Ali Akar in Fatehkadal, downtown. The militants were also killed in the encounter.
He said civil and police officers led by Director General of Police (DGP) Dilbag Singh laid floral wreaths on the mortal remains and paid rich tributes to the martyr. “The slain jawan has been identified as Kamal Kishor, a resident of Reasi in Jammu region,” he said.
Meanwhile, four security forces personnel, including two SOG and as many CRPF jawans, were injured in the exchange of fire.
