Hurriyat (G) condemns ‘excessive force’ against civilians

Srinagar: Hurriyat Confeerence (G) on Monday said intimidations and repressive measures carried out by the government are highly deplorable, saying it won’t force people to submission.
A statement issued here said that Hurriyat Conference (G) General Secretary Gh Nabi Sumji has expressed his grave concern over the use of excessive force against innocent civilians and youth.
Hurriyat leader while referring to ‘atrocities’ inflicted by men in uniform, said “ during CASO, youth were mercilessly thrashed, subjected to worst humiliation, their mobile phones snatched and scrutinized. This is worst type of arrogance and no where on earth, such type bullying ever existed”.
Alleging that youth are being detained on fake charges, Sumji condemned the rampant use of PSA and lodging countless FIR’s against youth to prolong their illegal custody, saying it is the direct assault on civil liberty and fundamental rights of common masses.
Saying that denying liberty, dignity and subjecting to humiliation, tantamount to gross human rights violation, Sumji appealed international human rights organisations for their cognizance, and demanded initiate impartial probe into the alleged human rights violations in the state.
